Cook County Property Tax Conspiracy (off-topic)

Posted by mipplet on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 14:58

I need to go off topic today. Instead of discussing whatever's bothering the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian this week, I need to write about what's bothering ME...namely, Cook County property taxes.

Brangelina Trick-or-Treating Photo

Posted by mipplet on Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:17

Check out this photo of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie trick-or-treating with their four oldest kiddies over the weekend! It is totally worth clicking on the link to see Brad dressed up as a character from the show "Yo Gabba Gabba!" (Not sure what Angie is supposed to be...something undead...)

Who should play Frank Sinatra?

Posted by mipplet on Fri, 10/30/2009 - 16:46

Martin Scorsese will direct an upcoming biopic on the life of Frank Sinatra. Now the big question is, who's going to play ole' blue eyes on the big screen? Johnny Depp, George Clooney, and Leonardo DiCaprio are all said to be in the running. Who do you think should be cast in the role? Out of all of them, George is the most suave, but he's too old to play Sinatra during his younger years, as is Johnny Depp. (Sorry, guys!) Martin Scorsese loves Leo, so my guess is that he'll be the one case in the film, but can Titanic Boy sing? Hmm...I can't recall him ever singing in a film. Maybe they'll cast an unknown in the part. That would probably be best.

Who would you pick to play Sinatra in a movie?

Celebrity Sperm Donors

Posted by mipplet on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 13:21

Obviously, I am a celebrity gossip junkie, but some people are taking their Hollywood obsessions to a new extreme by seeking celebrity look-alikes as their sperm donors. In addition to specifying that you want your baby daddy to have a high IQ and be a good athlete, you can also request that he has George Clooney's chiseled good looks or Mel Gibson's piercing blue eyes. How random (and freaky)!

Gov. Schwarzenegger dissed by his wife

Posted by mipplet on Thu, 10/15/2009 - 10:32

Some time ago, California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill making it illegal for people in his state to operate a motor vehicle when talking on a cell phone without a headset. He had a rude awakening earlier this week when TMZ posted photos of his wife, Maria Shriver, breaking the law by yakking on her mobile while driving an SUV. Hilariously, Schwarzenegger responded to the news via his Twitter account, where he posted that he would take "swift action" against his wife. The Governator's office quickly issued a statement clarifying that by "swift action," Schwarzenegger simply meant that he would ask his wife not to talk on the phone while driving, not that he would terminate her. (Ba-boom-chink!)

David Letterman, office sex addict?!

Posted by mipplet on Thu, 10/01/2009 - 22:18

I'm definitely staying up to watch "The Late Show with David Letterman" tonight. Apparently Dave is going to fess up to having sexual relations with female members (plural, not singular) of his staff. He's going public with this because someone tried to extort $2 million from him in exchange for keeping this information quiet. Dave collaborated with the police, who ended up arresting the extortionist wannabe, and now he wants to set the record straight.

When did raping a child become acceptable behavior?

Posted by mipplet on Mon, 09/28/2009 - 14:42

I'm still in shock that Roman Polanski was actually arrested. I, along with the rest of the world's population, just assumed this man would get away with statutory rape forever, which made no sense to me. How is it possible that a man had sex with a 13-year-old girl, and everyone just seemed to look the other way?

Springsteen: Still a Stud at 60

Posted by mipplet on Wed, 09/23/2009 - 14:51

I've always loved Bruce Springsteen. I remember purchasing "Born in the U.S.A." on cassette when I was younger and hiding it because I would have been embarrassed for my parents to know that I owned an album with a picture of a man's butt on the cover. (My mother was a Jesus freak and I went to a religious school. Back in the early 80s, Amy Grant was about as out there as my musical tastes were allowed to be.)

Barack disses Kanye; Jessica loses puppy

Posted by mipplet on Tue, 09/15/2009 - 09:44

Can I just say that I love the fact that President Obama called Kanye West was a "jackass" for the way he behaved at the VMAs on Sunday night?! That's awesome! I hate the fact that it's generating so much flack, though. What is the big deal? Kanye IS a jackass! Kudos to Obama for saying so.

In other celeb news, Jessica Simpson's dog, Daisy, was allegedly snatched by a coyote. Jessica is offering a reward for the safe return of her beloved pooch.

Patrick Swayze: 1952-2009

Posted by mipplet on Mon, 09/14/2009 - 21:48

Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer today at the age of 57.

I am so incredibly sad. Like most other little girls in the late 1980's, I had a massive crush on Patrick that began when I saw the movie "Dirty Dancing." It was my favorite movie back in the fourth grade. (My friends and I would have sleepovers and watch it after our parents had gone to bed...they would have disapproved of us watching all the "naughty" scenes.)

A few years later, Patrick lit up the screen again in "Ghost," another classic romantic film. He has always held a special place in my heart, and I admired how valiantly he battled this awful disease, and respected him for speaking out about his illness so publicly.
