How bad is Khabibulin?

We might not know until Friday how badly Nikolai Khabibulin and Aaron Johnson are hurt. Khabibulin went down in the final minute of the second period of Wednesday's 3-2 OT loss to the Sharks with what appeared to be a groin or hamstring problem. Joel Quenneville didn't know if Khabibulin would be examined Thursday in San Jose, where the Hawks were to practice, or if he would need to return to Chicago. If the injury is serious, Cristobal Huet would vault into the spotlight and we'd likely see Antti Niemi recalled from Rockford to be the backup. Johnson's injury (his left shoulder?) didn't look good. He was drilled into the boards by Mike Grier, who drew a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding. The injuries to Khabibulin and Johnson came on the same day Adam Burish was unable to play because of an undisclosed injury suffered in practice Tuesday. At least it's looking as if Dustin Byfuglien can return Friday at Anaheim. More more thing Don't be surprised if Patrick Sharp needs an X-ray on his left wrist. He hurt it blocking a shot in the first period but was able to finish the game with the wrist heavily taped. Sharp wasn't in the dressing room following the game.
