The way I look at it, my paycheck comes every other Friday whether the Hawks disclose injuries or not.
Whether Nikolai Khabibulin hurt his groin, hamstring or back in San Jose really is of no interest to me personally. The Hawks are going to play their next game and there will be somebody standing in goal.
My question is do you, the Hawks fans who plunk down big money to watch your team play, care that NHL clubs no longer need to disclose injuries? If you don't care, then we're on the same page. If you do care, then maybe send an e-mail to Dale Tallon or John McDonough and let them know you think this is all so silly.
The injury disclosure rule was adopted last summer at the request of Red Wings GM Ken Holland in order to protect the players. I'm all for that. Hurt players are targeted, especially during the playoffs. But if Aaron Johnsonis going to miss a month with his injury, why can't that be announced.
It puts the media in a bind. Do we push to find out what's wrong, or just let it go as upper body injury or lower body injury? You tell me.
