Hendry meets with Bradley's agent
LAS VEGAS -- This just in late Monday night. Cubs GM Jim Hendry confirmed he met today with the agent for free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley.
Hendry didn't wish to be quoted only to say he had a lot of business to discuss with the agent.
Bradley is a switch-hitting outfielder the Cubs have in their sights all off-season. He also would come more cheaply than either Raul Ibanez or Bobby Abreu, to high-priced (at least for now) free agents.
We suggested Bradley here last week, pointing out that he can be difficult to handle but that Lou Piniella gets the big bucks just for that.
The Cubs courted Bradley a few years ago, as then-manager Dusty Baker paid him a winter visit, but nothing came of it. It's a name worth keeping a close eye on this winter. More in the morning.
