Kane leaves practice but should play
Patrick Kane skated briefly Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field, leaving practice early, but he is expected to play in Thursday's Winter Classic against Detroit.
"Patrick will play," coach Joel Quenneville said.
Kane hurt his right ankle in Tuesday's loss to Detroit on a hit by Dan Cleary. Kane fell to the ice, twisting his leg.
"I'm going to try to play," Kane said. "I'll get some treatment and we'll see how it goes."
Kane said the hit by Cleary was clean even if it looked as if Cleary's elbow came up at the last minute.
"It was a clean hit," Kane said. "My skate just got caught in the ice. It was one of those things where I couldn't get ot of the way."
In other developments, Quenneville said Cristobal Huet would start in goal. Huet has won his last five starts, and it's his turn in the rotation.
