Golden Globes in review
Well, another Golden Globes has come and gone. Actually, this is the first Golden Globes ceremony we've had in two years, because last year's telecast was a stupid 30-minute spectacle thanks to the writer's strike. Regardless, here is my annual Best and Worst Dressed Lists, along with some general comments about the awards.
Best Dressed
- Tonight was Kate Winslet's night! Not only did she look lovely and was very gracious in her acceptance speeches, but she won TWO awards: one for "The Reader" and one for "Revolutionary Road." Way to go, Kate! Hopefully she will finally win an Academy Award this year.
- Eva Longoria looked stunning in a bright red dress. So elegant!
- Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is probably the ugliest girl in Hollywood right now. Still, she somehow managed to look decent for her stint as Miss Golden Globe. Way to go, Rumer!
- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Hottest Red Carpet Couple by far. (Brad, you could have left the sunglasses at home, though, just FYI.)
- Hayden Pantierre: Wow, she's all grown up!
- Drew Barrymore was channeling Marilyn Monroe.
- The Jonas Brothers are so freakin' adorable!
- Johnny Depp. Again, I have no picture, but trust me, he was hot.
- Tom Brokaw. I love him, but god, I miss Peter Jennings. (And was Tom toting a pink hanky?! Sweet!)
- Shirley MacLaine. I have no pictures, but trust me, she is forever gorgeous.
- Laura Linney. She chose a very unique outfit, but it looked fabulous on her.
- Seth Rogen lost a lot of weight. His glasses were cute, but what was up with his glittery tux?
- Patrick Dempsey = YUMMY!
- Pierce Brosnan always looks hot, no matter what.
- Mickey Rourke looked awesome, and I love him for thanking his dogs!
Worst Dressed
- Sting had a black neck beard! WTF was that about?! SO NASTY!
- Don Cheadle. I don't have a photo of him to share, but for some reason he shaved his head bald, and decided to overcompensate by wearing huge diamond stud earrings in each ear. Major fashion don't.
- Laura Dern's 50's schoolgirl getup was a little too young-looking for her, don't you think?
- Eva Mendes had bad hair, an ugly necklace and a white dress that looked like a giant napkin. Yuck.
- I adore Sally Field, but her T-shirt dress kind of sucked.
- Robert Downey, Jr. was having a bad hair day.
- Sally Hawkins. Who is this person, and why did did she have an ugly dress that looked a lot like Laura Dern's?
- Demi Moore looked like she was paying tribute to "That 70's Show." I hate to tell you this, Demi, but it didn't work. You looked like crap.
- Maggie Gyllenhaal. Wow Maggie, what a fugly bedsheet you are wearing!
- Amy Poehler showed off a great post-baby bod, but her outfit and jewelry were pretty ugly.
- Renee Zellweger. She was the worst dressed of the night, hands down. She looked like a vampire from hell! And who wants to see her ugly boobs?! Not I!
- Amy Adams. What was with her creepy fern earrings?
- Jennifer Lopez and Glenn Close: Matching gold disasters.
- Tina Fey: I'm glad she won, but I'm sad she was missing the front of her dress. Her hair looked like crap, too.
- Emma Thompson: Wow, she looked awful...especially her shoes.
- Cameron Diaz always looks like crap, so this isn't much of a surprise.
- Susan Sarandon: Um...no.
Miscellaneous
- Michael C. Hall and his new bride, Jennifer Carpenter, looked ravishing on the red carpet (although Michael is in desparate need of a haircut). However, Michael was ROBBED of his Golden Globe! He definitely should have won for "Dexter." ("In Treatment" sucks!)
- Yay to "Wall-e" for winning best animated film (and a special shout-out to my brother-in-law, Wally...congrats on your big victory!).)
- WHERE WAS GEORGE CLOONEY?! I MISSED YOU, GEORGE!!!
- Of course Heath Ledger won. They love to give awards to dead people. In this case, though, he actually deserved it.
- No Jennifer Aniston, huh? Does she really think she can avoid Brangelina forever?
- Steven Spielberg never won the Cecil B. Demille Award before? Really?
Well, there you have it. I'll be standing by waiting for Oscar nominations to come out in a few days. My hope is that Kate and Leo both take home awards for "Revolutionary Road"...they deserve it.

• Renee Zellweger is a tragedy, in every way. Didn't anyone tell her that she was SO much cuter as Bridget Jones than as Praying Mantis McBotox?
• Don't you dare say anything bad about my Amy. (Either one of my Amys, for that matter!)
• Drew looked like she should have had Frank, Dean, and Sammy surrounding her. What a dish!
• I. Love. Kate. Winslet.
• I think you're being too harsh on Rumer. In fact, I think the entire world is being too harsh on Rumer. With those two people as parents, you can't be ugly. I'm sorry, you just can't.
• Maggie Gyllenhaal always seems to be daring the press to call her ugly. She's not, but she sure doesn't help her case with the hair and style choices she makes. Who's her stylist, Peter Saarsgaard?
• I thought Don Cheadle should have apologized to Terrance Howard for stealing his part in "Iron Man 2."

...is a complete and utter disaster. I don't know why these award shows let her in the door anymore.
I love Amy Adams, but her earrings looked liked they'd been growing on a tree half an hour before the show started.
Have you LOOKED at Rumer?! She is so nasty! Her dad is attractive, but her mother looks like a trannie, and Rumer definitely takes after Demi.
Maggie is very pretty, she just has a bad habit of wearing bedspreads and curtains out in public.
I hope Kate Winslet finally wins an Oscar this year.
