Anderson target of another prank

Last week, the White Sox made fun of a videotape featuring Brian Anderson in an off-season workout session. Before Tuesday's game against the Indians, Anderson was the target of another prank. Something seemed odd right away in the Sox' clubhouse at Progressive Field. Back in the trainer's room, a shirtless Jim Thome was oiling up and adjusting his bandana. Thome was preparing himself for the "three-man rope,'' an old-time stunt that Anderson fell for. Down near the indoor hitting cage, Paul Konerko laid on one side and Nick Swisher the other. Anderson, naturally, was in the middle. Thome stood over his three teammates and was about to "lift'' them off the ground, which is what Anderson was expecting. But as the gag unfolded, Konerko and Swisher rolled away, and Jermaine Dye dumped a bucket of rancid swill on Anderson. Known contents were beef tenderloin juice from Monday night's clubhouse meal, mushrooms, Gatorade and some tobacco juice. A good sport, Anderson scrambled into the shower to get clean, while the rest of his teammates had a good laugh.
