Call me when the shuttle lands ...
For years, Capitol denizens have playfully suggested we’d have timely state budget deals if the legislative leaders and governor were locked in a room with no bathroom breaks.
With time running short in this legislative session, it appears the setting for just such talks has been found.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The international space station's lone toilet is broken, leaving the crew with almost nowhere to go.
If only we could only get the legislative leaders and Gov. Rod Blagojevich on the next shuttle flight …

Here’s what Gov. Rod Blagojevich had to say about this time last year when time was running short and a budget deal looked unlikely:
“At the end of the day, whether we finish today, tomorrow, next week or next month, we need to get a budget for people that does all the right things for people, and a budget that helps them and doesn’t hurt them.”
