This time, Cabrera makes the right call
Orlando Cabrera was wrong, dead wrong.
He's been playing major-league baseball for 10 years, and even the rawest rookies know you don't call the official scorer during a game and try to get an error call overturned.
Apparently, Cabrera has a different view, so we'll disagree on that.
But after the White Sox' impressive 5-1 win over upstart Tampa Bay Thursday night, Cabrera was dead right in his decision to meet with the media and do some needed damage control.
You can read the full story in the Daily Herald, but to paraphrase, Cabrera said he's cool with Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and he respects his teammates.
The 33-year-old shortstop had a talk with Jim Thome before the game, so he probably got some good advice from one of the best teammates any sport has ever produced.
Cabrera said it's all about winning, and the White Sox have been all about that lately.
He is still a free agent at the end of the season, and I still have serious doubts about the Sox' interest in bringing Cabrera back.
But for now, and probably for the rest of the season, all is well with Cabrera.

As I have watched the sox play the last few weeks, there is no reason to not believe this team cant take this division. If there hitting came around and became consistent they would be hard to stop with that dynamic pitching staff. Look the question's in the beginning of the year were Danks and Floyd. Last night we see that John Danks is for real again and that these kids aren't laying down anytime soon. I'm still weary of Jim Thome i think he only has like 2 or 3 multi hit games in the last 24 games somewhere around there. Paulie will come around even in his older age he can still hit the ball....did you see him crush that homer last night! i like the sox chances alot and I also think Ramirez needs to see the field and let Uribe take a backseat. With Juan injured Ramirez needs to take advantage of the situation. He did in the extra inning affair the other night with the fake bunt slap shot down first base. As long as the sox can keep beating those in there division and letting everyone else beat up on each other they should be in good shape!
