Blago never was one for the details
Rod Blagojevich continues to amaze us with his detailed knowledge of how the state government he presided over actually works.
AP moved this story from Blagojevich's morning WLS Radio chat on "The Don and Roma Morning Show":
Ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he and his wife are out of work but don't plan to file for unemployment.
Blagojevich was removed from office Jan. 29 after an impeachment trial by Illinois lawmakers that was triggered by his arrest on federal corruption charges. And Illinois' former first lady, Patti Blagojevich, was fired Jan. 20 from her $100,000-a-year job as chief fundraiser for a Chicago homeless agency.
During an interview on WLS Radio's "The Don and Roma Morning Show" on Wednesday, Blagojevich said he and his family are doing fine financially despite those career setbacks.
Perhaps it's time someone told the former governor that governors and other elected officials are not eligible for unemployment based on their public office salaries. Think about it for a moment. If they were, every politician voted out of office would be able to claim unemployment.
I suppose technically Blagojevich's statement isn't wrong. He could file for unemployment. He just won't get it.
As for Patti, her eligibility depends on exactly why she got canned. You don't get unemployment if you're fired for doing something wrong. We'd also need to know more about the exact nature of her former job as not everyone automatically qualifies for unemployment benefits.

This statement of yours is not correct:
"You don't get unemployment if you're fired for doing something wrong. We'd also need to know more about the exact nature of her former job as not everyone automatically qualifies for unemployment benefits."
Everyone qualifies for unemployment and gets it, unless an employer protests the unemployment claim and the employer can prove the person should not get it. Patti will qualify for unemployment. Ask IDES....
If she wants a double whammy, she should file a workers comp claim for carpal tunnel. She will get that too, unless the company can prove she didn't get the condition from work. Ask the Workers Comp Commission......
Then ask both if this may be a reason companies avoid Illinois like the plague.......
Here's what the Illinois Department of Employment Security says:
Can I be disqualified?
You may be disqualified from receiving benefits because you:
1) quit your job
2) were discharged for misconduct
3) refused suitable new employment
4) were involved in an ongoing labor dispute, or
5) you return to work.
There are other disqualifications, as well.
