Expect Cubs to watch SportsCenter

For all the ruckus Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano caused in the dugout Saturday, some people claimed not to have seen it. Chief among them was manager Lou Piniella. Piniella removed Zambrano after Matt Kemp hit a 3-run homer off Big Z in the seventh inning that gave the Dodgers a 7-3 lead, a score that held up. When Zambrano reached the dugout, he went ballistic on a couple of Gatorade jugs and flung his hat. "I was on the mound, and I hear all this commotion," Lou said. "I thought there was a wave going on, but there was no wave." Only a Big Z tsunami. "So I came back in, and I said, 'What was all that noise about?'" Lou said. "I missed it. I was getting another pitcher in the ballgame. It's just frustration, that's all. He competes, and he wants to win. As long as he doesn't hurt himself, that's all we care about." That's how most of Z's mates seemed to be viewing it. Zambrano walks the razor's edge when it comes to using his emotions. And Lou said he'd rather see a player explode than act like he doesn't care. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who has witnessed a few Zambrano blow-ups, said he was talking with his teammates on the field and didn't see Big Z rearranging the beverage center. "He made pitches, and that inning, we just didn't make the plays for him to come out on top," said Ramirez, who had a throwing error that inning. "I didnt' see it. I was playing. You guys saw it. I was still on the field when he came out of the game, so I didn't see what he did. I was talking to D-Lee and the guys in the infield, so I didn't see it. I heard about it, though." When told it'll be replayed endless times on all the highlight shows, Ramirez said: "I'm pretty sure I'll see it." "Sometimes you have to be a little angry," Big Z said. "For me, I think it'll help me with my next start." At least Z didn't blame his teammates, who were just as culpable for this loss with some shaky fielding. "Everything, everything that happened today, everything that I did today, I didn't like the way I pitched today," he said. "I didn't like the way that I hung those pitches to Kemp and to (Russell) Martin. It's part of the game that you have to pick your teammates up. Sometimes you can't. Sometimes you can. Sometimes it's part of the game. Somebody makes an error, and you have to pick them up."
