Republicans ask AG Madigan to weigh in
House Republican leader Tom Cross has asked Attorney General Lisa Madigan for a legal opinion on the efforts in the General Assembly to have Republican central committee members elected by GOP voters rather than picked by party officials.
The proposal has caused fissures with the GOP ranks, with some suburban Republicans like Aurora Sen. Chris Lauzen sponsoring and pushing the plan while others, including the party organization, oppose it and question its constitutionality.
Here's a link to the letter Cross sent to Madigan: http://tinyurl.com/cz2kt5

With legislators signing bills and laws without reading the entire document, did Tom really read what he signed?
How many of you really believe that Tom Cross wrote this letter- raise your hands.
Obviously, the legal speak is a dead giveaway that Tom is just the water-boy for Andy McKenna's Democrat law firm presenting their case to another Dem, AG Madigan.
With all the howling McKenna and the GOP back-roomers have done about this being "a Democrat scheme to take over the IL GOP," this is hypocritical at best.
It's really more like they figured they better stock-pile their own group of Dems to shore up their side.
Pathetic.
Wow, I read Cross' rant to Lisa Madigan.
So now Tom Cross is lying to the Attorney General. Let us know how that goes for you Tommy Boy.
There are tons of ridiculous things in that letter. But for starters it's hilarious how the anti-democracy cabal wants to keep hanging it's hat on last year's state convention., the same one they rigged. Please. That thing was such an embarrassing joke, it stood for nothing, other than showing how much we need the accountability of SB600.
Even Cross and his henchmen can't keep their lies straight. Their "numbers" for and against seem to change all the time.
In any case, it's all moot. SB600 AS IT'S WRITTEN TODAY WASN'T EVEN ON THE TABLE LAST YEAR. The SB600 now under consideration doubles the size of the committee, and we'll have an equal number of men and women. The national party is set up the same way. Each State GOP sends a National Committeeman and a National Committeewoman to the RNC.
SO WHAT PART OF THE CURRENT BILL WASN'T CONSIDERED LAST YEAR IN DECATUR OR ANYWHERE ELSE DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND TOM CROSS? IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED BECAUSE IT WASN'T EVEN WRITTEN YET! AND TOM CROSS KNOWS IT.
Cross also has the nerve to state that "all" Republicans oppose SB600. That's just another blatant lie. In truth, it's only a tiny circle of selfish, self-interested party bosses who oppose more democracy. Who wouldn't want their vote back that was taken way from Republicans by awful legislsation two decades ago? What Republican voter wouldn't want the same respect in their party that the Democrats already have in their's?
Maybe it would be best if Tom Cross stepped down pending a full investigation into fraud and official misconduct. It's gotta be illegal to knowingly seek to misdirect the resources of the Attorney General and her staff, especially for purely selfish political reasons.
Tom Cross is so desperate, now he has to run to a Democrat.
Note to Tom Cross: Lisa is going to tell you the same thing Republican voters are: LET THE PEOPLE VOTE!!!!!!
