MESA, Ariz. _ You just can't beat it when Lou and Ozzie get together. Ozzie said Lou is "80 years old" and "perfect for Wrigley Field." But seriously, he also called Lou his mentor, and the two managers spent a few minutes talking on the field this morning.
We'll give you both lineups:
Lou said he was going to call Ozzie and ask about the DH so he could get Reed Johnson some ABs against lefty Richard, but when he remembered that Big Z was pitching, he thought better of it, saying he'd have a nightmare on his hands.
In a procedurual move today, the Cubs outrighted outfielder Brad Snyder to Triple-A, taking him off the 40-man roster, which stands at 37. The Cubs claimed Snyder off waivers from Cleveland last September.
Lou says he's not putting too much stock into last night's performance by Carlos Marmol, who gave up a couple hits and hit his fifth batter of the spring. The wind was howling at a sustained 40 mph in Scottsdale, and the Cubs and Giants finally agreed to call it in the seventh inning. Lou cited Sean Marshall as having trouble in the conditions, as well.
