Expert likes Massaquoi, Robiskie for Bears
Talked to Nolan Nawrocki today, the guy whose expertise is responsible for Pro Football Weekly’s annual Draft Preview, and he had some interesting observations on which wide receivers might be available for the Bears at No. 49.
Nawrocki said he wasn’t sure if Georgia’s Mohamed Massaquoi would still be around at 49, but he said that pick would “make a lot of sense for the Bears and would be a safe” selection. Massaquoi is big (6-1 ½, 210) and was a consistent four-year producer in a tough conference. He does just about everything well but lacks great speed and will occasionally drop some easy catches.
According to Nawrocki, some teams have given Ohio State wide receiver Brian Robiskie third-round grades, but he thinks the 6-foot-3, 209-pounder will be drafted much earlier and would be another good fit for the Bears. He has great size, runs precise routes and has a great work ethic, smarts and leaping ability (37 ½-inch vertical at the Combine). However, Robiskie doesn’t seem to play as fast as his 4.48 40-time at the Combine, and he isn’t a great threat after the catch. But I think the Bears would be thrilled if he were available at 49. Robiskie is one rookie wide receiver who should contribute immediately because of his maturity and attention to detail.
As usual, there is a large group of wide receivers with character concerns this year, but Massaquoi and Robiskie are not in that group.
