Failing to take advantage of yet another opportunity, relief pitcher Mike MacDougal was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Tuesday.
The Sox recalled Jack Egbert from Class AAA Charlotte to replace MacDougal.
In 5 games this season, MacDougal allowed 6 runs and 7 walks in 4 1/3 innings.
Egbert, 25, was 1-0 with a 6.43 ERA in 5 relief appearances for Charlotte. A converted starting pitcher, Egbert is 40-36 with a 3.35 ERA over five minor-league seasons.
He’ll wear uniform No. 62.
