Another dud for Contreras

Another dud for Contreras

Before Friday's game, manager Ozzie Guillen was talking about struggling starter Jose Contreras being on thin ice.
"I'm the one who makes the decision," Ozzie said. "I want to ask those people who think they know about baseball, can they give me a name to (replace) him? If we had somebody who could do that, I don't mind doing that. A lot of people put names out there. Jose, we still believe in him. If Jose were hurt, we would think about it. But he's healthy."
He might be healthy, but Contreras was beat up again in Friday night's start vs. Texas, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits in just 3 2/3 innings. Contreras, also had 2 walks, 2 wild pitches and he hit a batter while throwing 81 pitches.
With an ERA of 8.19, it’s pretty obvious the Sox have to send Contreras to the bullpen.
As for names to replace Contreras, let’s again suggest Carlos Torres, who is 3-1 at Class AAA Charlotte with the lowest ERA (0.96) in the International League.
