While many of the Hawks insist they don't care who they play in the Western Conference finals, I'm not completely buying it.
I think they want the Red Wings, even though the series would start at the United Center should eighth-seeded Anaheim advance.
To be the best, you've got to be at the best, right? And the Hawks, deep down, believe they can beat Detroit - at Joe Louis Arena or at the United Center.
What many Hawks did admit was they wanted the other West semifinal series to go seven games, and that's what will happen after the Ducks beat the Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night at the Honda Center.
Game 7 is Thursday night at the Joe, and the Hawks hope it's the most physical game of the series.
Playing Detroit also would mean easier travel. The Hawks were road weary after traveling back and forth to Western Canada four times. Another four-hour flight to California isn't appealing to them.
Whatever happens Thursday, we can expect the West finals to start Saturday or Sunday, likely with an afternoon game for NBC.
I'm guessing the Red Wings win on Thursday, though I wouldn't bet on it.
The Hawks and Red Wings would be incredible theatre. But a Hawks-Ducks series wouldn't be so bad either.
