Look who's not hustling

Saturday afternoon musings: Anybody see Kosuke Fukudome not get out of the batter's box or run to first base on that popout to short in the fifth inning today? It's not the first time, either. So let's hear no more about Aramis Ramirez and his alleged lack of hustle. All Ramirez did today was hit his third homer in two games in the 9-run fourth inning. Ramirez came into today with an OPS of .907. You don't want that on your team? I'm with the stats people who say there are no born "clutch" hitters. There is clutch hitting, but there are no clutch hitters, per se. Just good hitters. But Ramirez has come up clutch lately, hasn't he? Big Z is on the DL. He'll likely come back for some Fourth of July fireworks at St. Louis. Eric Patterson came up again and began with a double, 2 singles and a stolen base his first 3 times up. The Cubs are taking it easy with Reed Johnson and his bad back. He might not start until Tuesday. Sean Marshall will get the call Tuesday against Andy MacPhail's Orioles. Good for Marshall. He's earned it. Rich Hill is a different story. On Friday, he went two-thirds of an inning, giving up 3 hits and 6 runs, all earned, while walking four and striking out one. Geesh. They might have to shut him down for a while for his own good.
