Scouts break down Beckham

Gordon Beckham is back in the starting lineup tonight against the Tigers, batting seventh. The White Sox’ rookie third baseman (0-for-13) is still looking for his first big-league hit, and two scouts have some advice for him. “He looks like a pretty good athlete,” one scout said. “But he’s got to change his swing or (pitchers) are going to keep pounding him inside.” “The way his swing is, he’s got no chance right now,” another scout said. “They’re going to keep working him in until he makes an adjustment.” Beckham has looked overanxious so far, and his swing has been way too long. He needs to shorten up and get more on top of pitches.
