Sweet sound of silence
Notice how quiet it's been around the White Sox lately?
That's what winning does _ silences most of the critics.
Listen close, and it's nearly impossible to hear:
*Scott Podsednik is washed up and was only brought back because GM Kenny Williams is still living in the past, specifically 2005.
*Alexei Ramirez is a one-year wonder.
The shortstop couldn't hit in April and couldn't catch it in June, but Ramirez has overcome a lot of criticism (mostly from Ozzie) and is playing like he did over the final five months of last season.
A sore finger forced Ramirez out of Wednesday night's game at Cleveland, and the Sox are hoping it is just a bruise.
*Gordon Beckham is not ready for the big time.
Remember that 0-for-13 the rookie was riding after joining the Sox on June 4? Me neither.
*Gavin Floyd isn't worth the money.
The right-handed starter signed a four-year, $15.5 million extension in spring training and proceeded to pitch like a frightened rookie at the beginning of the season.
But try finding a better starter in either league since the end of May. Over that stretch, Floyd is 4-1 with a 1.39 ERA while delivering eight straight quality outings.
Those are just a few examples, but you get the point.
The Sox are in an easy part of the schedule, and they should be piling up wins. And they still have some holes, but winning five straight and 12 of 16 sure makes it tough to complain.

KEEP on keepn' on...we know the tough schedule ahead after the All Star break...But SOX have the Hoss's to keep on winning and win the Central. Starters and Pen as good as any club in either league. and if the offense will keep scoring we are in for a fun 2nd half of the season. Hopefully Carlo's will get on track when he returns and help the offense even more.
