Help is on the way

Reed Johnson comes off the disabled list tomorrow, and the Cubs will send Big Z to St. Louis to rest up for Friday's start, when he comes off the DL.

As much as he hasn't wanted to admit it, Lou acknowledged this evening that the injuries have caught up to the Cubs, who are 4-6 over their last 10 heading into tonight's game against the Giants.

"We lost just about our whole outfield," Lou said. "Let's just win some baseball games. That's all I'm interested in. It's been tough lately, it really has. It hasn't been easy...It's been a struggle. It's starting to show. It's starting to show in the won-loss wise. You just can't continue to lose the people that we have for extended periods of times and continue to play at the pace we have. It's very difficult. If you do, you can do it for a period of time. But over a long period of time, it catches up to you."

The Cubs will need to make roster moves for Johnson and Zambrano, and Lou says those moves haven't been determined yet. It's likely the Cubs will send Eric Patterson down for Johnson and Jose Ascanio down for Zambrano. The roster goes from 24 to 25 tomorrow when Aramis Ramirez gets back from the Dominican Republic.

The lineup:
Fukudome, RF
Theriot, SS
Lee, 1B
Soto, C
Edmonds, CF
DeRosa, 3B
Murton, LF
Fontenot, 2B
Dempster, P

They've been basically treading water so hopefully they'll take off again and leave the Cards and Brewers far in the rear view mirror.
