Here's a Jake Peavy update, courtesy of White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper:
Peavy is going to throw another sideline _ his third of the week _ on Saturday in San Diego.
After that, he should make his first minor-league start on Thursday, although Coop's not sure where Peavy will pitch. Freddy Garcia, for example, has pitched for Class A Kannapolis and Advanced Rookie League Bristol on his rehab assignment.
Garcia makes another start for Bristol tonight.
The guess here is Peavy (ankle) rehabs with either Class AAA Charlotte or AA Birmingham, where the competition is better.
Coop said Peavy is going to need “at least three” minor-league starts before joining the Sox' rotation.
If three outings does the trick and he stays on schedule, Peavy joins the White Sox on Aug. 28 ands starts against New York at new Yankee Stadium.
