Tonight's practice at 7 o'clock at Ward Field, could have quite a few players missing from action.
Cornerback Zack Bowman, safety Danieal Manning, linebacker Jamar Williams, long-snapper Patrick Mannelly, defensive end Joe Clermond, defensive tackle Tommie Harris and defensive ends Adewale Ogunleye and Ervin Baldwin did not participate in the abbreviated morning practice because of various injuries.
Long-snapper J.J. Milan was signed today just in case Mannelly is out for more than a few days. The Bears would prefer not to use tight ends Desmond Clark or Greg Olsen, their emergency long-snappers, in that role in a game. The 6-5, 265-pound Milan, is from the University of Nevada. He was an undrafted rookie free agent with the Raiders in 2007, claimed off of waivers by the Colts in August of 2007 and waived by Indianapolis last summer.
Not that it matters all that much in the grand scheme of things, but there is still do depth chart for Saturday night's preseason opener. Most of the starters are expected to play no more than a quarter.
