Kane to make statement on Monday
Blackhawks star Patrick Kane will make his first public statement about his legal situation on Monday before the start of the U.S. Olympic orientation camp at Seven Bridges in Woodridge.
It’s the only time during the three-day camp that Kane will discuss his arrest last week in Buffalo for allegedly robbing and beating a taxi driver, according to a spokesman for USA Hockey.
Kane is one of 34 players invited to the camp that will be the first step in helping determine the 23-man U.S. Olympic team roster for the February Games in Vancouver.
The on-ice sessions are open to the public and free. Doors open at 9 a.m., but there is limited seating and fans will be allowed into the rink on a first-come, first-served basis.

At this point he can't say anything because it can be held against him in a court of law. I'd like to hear what he has to say after it's over.
...For him to put in his 20 cents worth.
If Kane had any, he would have stepped up, without an attorney, and got in front of this cabbie thing immediately.
But nooooooo! Now we get a circus. (Oh goodie for us!)
This cabbie thing notwithstanding, Patrick Kane needs a beating from a seasoned, smaller NHL veteran to shape is butt up. (Scott Neidermayer, Michael Peca, Maxim Talbot, etc.)
A lesson like that will help turn Kane from a selfish little boy into a man.
I doubt Ben Eager or Brent Seabrook or Dustin Byfuglien or Cam Barker would step in the middle of a teaching lesson from the likes of one of those smaller veterans.
Like him or not, you cannot escape the fact that Patrick Kane is a selfish player on the ice, with a big ego and enormous talent.)
Hopefully a fistful of humility will come his way on the ice.
He could legally hang himself by opening his mouth.
Think its an issue now? If he took your advice, he'd really be in trouble.
He can't say anything without his lawyer because he is in the process of a grand jury investigation. To say anything until it's over, would not be prudent. Now if your complaint is with his ego etc, then I can't help you with those answers, but he is not going to say anything until the while thing goes (or is dismissed) to trial.
Lawyers are involved now. Too late to say anything about the episode.
My point was to step up immediatley after the episode and man-up.
Regarding his ego, I believe that will get put in check on the ice this year by someone wearing an opposing sweater.
So scripted - and this means nothing whatever he says. You will not know if it is the truth or not. So why bother.
In the big picture - both Kane and cabbie are wrong. Kane should have known better and should have never been in this position.
one surprising thing - I have not heard explicitely if alcohol was involved. But it was early in the morning.
What can HE say?
"I am sorry to be drunk while underage, but we kinda freaked out when the cabbie locked us in the cab, and that's why we put hands on him. He MIGHT have had liquor on his breath because we sure smelled liquor. I acted in an unfitting manner and I hope that Mr. cabbie will accept my apology and my check and we both can get on with sweeping this entire debacle under the carpet and concentrate on having much of Chicago land again hold my gita-rule, like I am used to."
Kane was drinking? Really? I must have missed that report. Or is this just more imaginary reporting by another over zealous Hawk fan who thinks they know the whole story?
With all of the media attention this has gotten, don't you think if he was drinking that this would have been reported by now? The media lives for this kind of celebrity smut gossip. There is very little chance that this would go unreported if there were any evidence of it.
It is possible to go out on the town and not drink. I didn't drink at all when I was in college, but I still went to bars. Now that I'm old and jaded I drink like a fish just to kill the pain, but I do recall a time in my life where I could actually go out and have fun, even to the wee hours of the morning, without so much as a nip of booze. Think what you want about how smart Kane is or is not, but is it really reasonable to think that he's stupid enough to be drinking in public while still under aged? Especially in Buffalo where he obviously seems to think everyone should know who he is.
We don't need a statement from him until after the grand jury. Until then, go play hockey and don't disrupt the Olympic tryouts with a media circus
so you're right, it really was silence.
That's good, he prepared a statement per his council and that was it.
I would like to thank my team mates for a great......Oh wait......this isn't aa award....sorry I guess I am just so used to awards......let me start again.
I would like to thank my cuz for a great night out drinking. I learned to love Jello-shots. And there are lots of addoring chicks at that bar we left. Don't forget I am a young guy and deserve to get away with this.....and If I find that Cab driver I am going to make his face look different. I will turn his head into a street pizza. oh.........sorry!
I hope this gets resolved soon so the focus could move back to hockey. Kane probably won't say much and I'm sure his attorney will have him read a prepared statement. His out in this may be if the cabbie in fact locked the doors and wouldn't let them out. They could argue that they felt they were in danger. How would they know if this guy had a gun or not. Has the makings of an episode of Law and Order.
