Getz on White Sox' radar

In spring training, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams said Chris Getz had, well, let's just say "stones.''
Getz, one of the Sox' top minor-league prospects, has a bright future as well.
The door on Pablo Ozuna's career with the White Sox closed on Tuesday when he was "designated for assignment.''
That's baseball's cryptic way of saying: "Hey, you're fired.''
Ozuna has a variety of skills, and he should quickly catch on with another major-league team.
As for the 24-year-old Getz, it's just a matter of time before he gets a shot with the White Sox.
Manager Ozzie Guillen was impressed with the scrappy infielder during spring training.
"Getz is good,'' Guillen said on Tuesday. "He's in our picture.''
Many Trillo, the Sox' minor-league infield instructor, has been raving about Getz the past two years.
"Every time we talk about infielders and people, Manny always comes up with his name,'' Guillen said. "This kid got a lot, lot better in spring training. He can catch the ball and he can run.''
Can he hit?
"Maybe like (David) Eckstein,'' Guillen said. "Maybe a little better than Eckstein.''
In 82 games with Class AAA Charlotte this season, Getz is batting .304 with 6 home runs, 33 RBI and 7 stolen bases. Selected by the White Sox on the fourth round of the 2005 draft, Getz has played second base, shortstop and outfield this year.
If he’s not called up in September, Getz should definitely be with the Sox in 2009, even if it’s in a reserve role.
