Crunch time for WRs

Crunch time for WRs

Sunday's third preseason tune-up could be the make-or-break game for one or more wide receivers fighting for roster spots.

Brandon Rideau had an impressive training camp but was blanked in the preseason opener, although he had 2 catches for 21 yards in Game Two.
At first he tired to say that Sunday's game at Denver wouldn’t be the most important contest of his NFL career, which began in 2006, but then he reconsidered

“You look at it like every game is important,” Rideau said. “It's just as important as the one last week. Actually … it's more important than the one last week because it's the next one."

With Jay Cutler returning to Denver, the game will take on added importance, but for Rideau, it’s already important.

“In my situation, every game feels like a regular-season game,” he said. “So whatever opportunity we get at receiver we just try to make plays on them.”

Rideau is battling Devin Aromashodu and Rashied Davis for playing time. Aromashodu has just 1 catch, but it was a spectacular diving catch last week that produced a 38-yard gain. Davis, who is the most experienced of the three, caught just 1 pass for 3 yards against the Giants but had 2 receptions for 25 yards in the opener.

The only reason...

...Iglesias is ahead of Knox is he's a third round pick..and we've had big success there with Briggs, Berrian, etc. But, Knox has too much speed to ignore.
Davis?
He gone.

iglesias?

he's looked okay, but i wouldn't put him that far ahead of knox. any possible way he ends up on the practice squad and not the team? also, ill take anyone as long as davis gets sent to the AFL, aka just CUT HIS BUTT

Heres how the WR depth chart should look...

#1 Hester (which is not good)
#2 Bennett (would be a 4 or 5 on any other team)
#3 Rideau
#4 Aromashadu
#5 Iglesias (this years version of Bennett)
#6 Knox

The Bears will keep at least 6 WR's, left out:
Davis
Peterman (which stinks because he has speed and would be great on special teams)
Broussard
Kinder

If the Bears keep a 7th WR I would hope it would be Peterman but it would most likely be Davis or Kinder.

Anyway that you shake it out the Bears, by far, have the worst WR group in the league. They dont have a #1 or #2.

Knox will not be exposed to the practice squad.

Someone would take a shot at adding him to their active roster and take him from the Bears. There is to much upside to expose him like that...

Davis?

I really hope one DA or Rideau get a chance instead of Rashied Davis. I am tired of seeing him drop passes that are just back-breakers that can change a game. He doesn't do enough good things to warrant the drops.
