Thanksgiving tourney coming to Palatine

Palatine will be hosting a Thanksgiving boys hoops tourney and fittingly it will be called the "Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic." Current Palatine coach Eric Millstone said he wanted to pay tribute to his predecessor, who led the boys program for 32 years.
Millstone said right now he has Lake Zurich, Wheaton North and Deerfield in the tourney and is trying to add one more team for this year to make it four games in five days for everyone. Millstone said he's even considering eventually expanding the field to eight teams.

Marty Maciaszek has been covering high school sports at the Daily Herald since 1992. He first started covering the high schools as a sophomore at York High School in Elmhurst in 1982 and received an excellent prep education - especially in boys basketball - for two years in Peoria in the late 1980s while attending Bradley University.

Marty has covered and enjoyed talking with coaches and athletes in just about every sport sponsored by the IHSA. He also is a die-hard White Sox fan who was fortunate enough to attend Game 2 of the World Series he never thought he would see in his lifetime.
