Hawks done with the Edge
Don't plan on heading out to the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville to watch the Blackhawks in training camp starting Sunday.
For the most part, the Hawks are through with the Edge as their primary practice facility. There might be an odd practice here or there at the Edge, but all of training camp will be conducted at the United Center and Johnny's Ice House. Once the season begins, the Hawks still plan on practicing at the UC and Johnny's until their new practice facility, Johnny's Ice House II, is completed in about six weeks, according to GM Stan Bowman.
The new Johnny's, located near the intersection of Madison Street and Western Avenue on the West Side, will feature a full dressing room and upgraded training, weight and medical rooms from what the Hawks had at the Edge.
The off-ice setup at the Edge simply was too small and not up to NHL standards. The AHL Wolves have a better facility in Hoffman Estates. In addition, it was a long drive to the Edge for the players, nearly all of whom now live in the city.
The Hawks will allow fans to watch training camp sessions at Johnny’s. Those at the United Center are closed to the public.

From a source in Ottawa. HEATLEY trade will happen today. He is either going to CHICAGO or SAN JOSE.
As of yet, I do not know who the HAWKS have offered in return. I would think Soupy would have to be part of this trade for it to work.
I'll advise if anything else is heard.
Go HAWKS
Just heard he is a SHARK.
Sharks gave up Michalek, Cheechoo & a 2nd round draft pick.
My son played a couple of times at the Edge and I have done my coaching classes there (Thats AHAI Illinois HQ I think or northern HQ at least) It's kinda dumpy if you ask me. I have been playing at Johnnys since it opened and I think it a great facility. The locker rooms and shower setup are the best around in my book (Compared to SIA, Orland, Oak Lawn, Saints, HF, and Kank) The owner and GM seem like they actually know what they are doing and answer you questions promptly.
Will the Blackhawks allow fans to view practices at the new facility? It was a great way to pass the time in winter at the Edge.
