Cutler's not the problem, it's Mora and Martz

The problem is not with Jay Cutler’s attitude – whether it’s after a loss, after a win, before a loss, before a win or after the team meal on Saturday night.

The problem is that there are too many ex-NFL coaches who aren’t coaching. Instead they’re babbling about anything and everything – in this case on the NFL Network, which is an odd forum for a rip job on an NFL player. Neither Jim Mora nor Mike Martz was at Cutler’s postgame press conference after the loss to the Packers. But they have passed judgment on his demeanor.

Consider the sources. Mora called Cutler “completely immature,” and added, “I just didn't think he was very professional.”

You really want to see immature and unprofessional, go to YouTube and check out “Jim Mora Final Saints Speech.”

Martz said Cutler “just doesn't get it. He doesn't understand that he represents a great head coach and the rest of those players on that team ... somebody needs to talk to him."

Martz, you may recall, is the egomaniac who ran “The Greatest Show on Turf” into a ditch. After taking over for Dick Vermeil, Martz got the Rams to Super Bowl XXXVI, where they were 14-point favorites over the Patriots but lost 20-17, as Martz allowed Marshall Faulk to run just 17 times. Martz had just one winning in the next four before he was relieved of his duties after going 2-3 to start the 2005 season.

Martz didn’t understand that arrogance and smugness were not ideal qualities in a head coach.

And, oh by the way, former Bears QB Jim McMahon was more of a horse’s rear end after a victory than Cutler was after a tough loss in a hostile environment. And yet people still think he was a great guy and a great quarterback.

I think that’s called revisionist history.

McMahon

He was a winner, he never knew when he was beaten and had more three score comebacks than anyone I ever saw. Ditka said without McMahon there was no Superbowl. If you don't think Jim McMahon was a gamer then you don't know football.

Right as rain Bob

It's not just Mora and Martz, who by the way I didn't see, I also heard it from Dungy and Ditka. These guys get paid to be controversial so they have to come up with negative garbage like that. I wonder if Mora or Martz have actually even met Jay Cutler.

Mora is a TOOL

Every time I hear Mora's whiny, grating rants I cringe. The guy has always been worthless in both opinion and actions. His tenure with the Saints had few high points - i.e.: rarely made it to the playoffs but never able to 'close the deal'. Some former coaches truly do warrant the title "Coach" after their careers, (much like former Presidents still carry the title), but Mora is not one of them.

U got it

Spot on Bob. These coaches are just trying to create some controversey to keep themselves in the news. Pretty pathetic in my mind. Don't they have anything better to do? Oh wait no they don't since there are no longer coaches. Why don't they shut up and go enjoy the millions they made. No one cares what they think now....thats why there jobless.
