Lineup switch gets Fox in

Lineup switch gets Fox in

MILWAUKEE _ It was an all-quiet day on the Milton front. Not a single question to Lou about Milton Bradley. The Cubs are saying that they expect the situation to be resolved in a couple of days, so don't look for any drama with a grievance or anything like that. And don't look for Bradley back in the Cubs' dugout any time.

Jake Fox wasn't in the original lineup tonight, but Lou put him in left field late:

Theriot, SS
Fukudome, RF
Lee, 1B
Ramirez, 3B
Fox, LF
Baker, 2B
Soto, C
Colvin, CF
Wells, P

It looks like Angel Guzman is done for the season. He had an MRI today on his right triceps area, and it revealed inflammation and the same strain that had him on the DL earlier this year. So the Cubs will simply shut him down.

Lou says he'll know more tomorrow about who's pitching in San Francisco over the weekend. Rich Harden is throwing on the side, and Ted Lilly threw today. Either or both could work Saturday or Sunday at AT&T Park.

I asked Lou what he saw in Tyler Colvin's swing after one game.

“He hits the ball to all fields," Lou said. "He looks a lot different than he did two years ago, my first year here. He was more of a standup hitter. Now, he’s more crouched and his weight is back on his back side a little more. He had 14 home runs and hit .300 in 80 games in Double A. We’ll take a look at him here and see how he does.”

D-Lee is batting .306 with 34 homers and 107 RBI. He's looking to become the fifth Cub with at least two seasons of batting .300, hitting at least 30 HRs and driving in at least 100. The others were Hack Wilson, Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Sammy Sosa. Lee leads the majors in homers since July 1, with 23.

True

i feel the farm system is better than people make it out to be..........that's just my opinion.

jake & Ty

Jake has problems on D.
Ty's 9th inning in CF was worth the trip to Milwaukee.
Here's hoping he can help on O & D!

disAstros opening

Bruce,

Any chance Bob Brenly would be interested in the Astros job? I certainly hope not..

I don't think he'd want to go there (here) anyway; I like the subtle digs he sometimes takes at the Astros and/or their ballpark.

Probably not

I haven't talked to him about it, but I'm sure he'd want a better situation.

I think Jake hit 14 homers in like 15 games in AAA this year....let's take a look at him please.

Exactly....

It seems like Foxey is getting the shaft here at the end of the season.

agree

this kid's only played 2 games. remember Pie, Patterson, where are they now? yes let's don't jump the gun. let him have some fun.

Pie

As much criticism as Felix got here, don't you wish he was still with the Cubs? He's a better fielder and is hitting better than any of the Cubs millionaire outfielders. When people complain about the team's minor league system, remember they gave away Pie and Casey McGehee in favor of this trainwreck.
