Zook hints at Charest?

ILLini Nation:

Ron Zook declined on Tuesday to say who'll start at quarterback for Saturday's game at suddenly stupendous Purdue. But he did volunteer this nugget about redshirt freshman Jacob Charest, the third-stringer who has yet to appear in a game:

"Jacob practiced last night. He got the most practice he's had in three or four weeks -- three weeks probably -- and I was kind of impressed with what he did. We've got to keep making changes and moves until the right thing clicks."

Prior to that, Zook offered this take on Juice Williams, who lost two second-half fumbles at Indiana to trigger the Hoosiers' 27-14 victory.

"Like I said last week, we're going to keep pushing buttons and keep making changes and moves until we get the thing where it's gotta be."

Then Zook got into one of those modes where he had several thoughts coursing through his brain with no transitions to make it easier for a writer to tie them together:

"At the end of the week, if we feel like Juice gives us the best chance to win...I think as a coaching staff, and I know, of course, one of the things I've heard from a lot of people, one of my faults is -- and I have many -- is that sometimes I stay with people too long. But it's not just a Ron Zook's decision, it's a staff decision. It's a coaches' decision. It's a decision, you know, who gives us the best opportunity to win? Now, we all know we can't turn the ball over and have a chance to win. I think Juice knows that. I think everybody else knows that."
