Harris doubtful after missing practice
Defensive tackle Tommie Harris did not take part in any portion of the Bears' Friday practice inside the Walter Payton Center and will be listed as "doubtful," on the official injury report, which is due out at 3 p.m., meaning he has a 25 percent chance of playing.
Harris, who is frequently excused from Wednesday practices because of chronic soreness in his surgical left knee, did not practice at all this week. He declined to speak with the media after Friday’s practice, but coach Lovie Smith addressed his status.
“Tommie still has some (knee) soreness from the last game,” Smith said. “I can’t spend a lot of time concerned about guys that can’t (play) right now. I just want them to continue to get treatment and get better. That’s what Tommie is doing.”
While Harris has not been ruled out for Sunday's game in Cincinnati against the Bengals, Backup tackles Marcus Harrison and Israel Idonije are expected to fill the potential void. Harrison saw his most extensive playing time of the season last week, mostly filling in at nose tackle for starter Anthony Adams, who was slowed by a toe injury. But Harrison also has experience playing Harris' 3-technique tackle spot.
Harrison played a season-high 35 snaps last week against the Falcons and had 2 tackles plus a tackle for negative yardage.
"I've had a good week of practice, trying to prepare," Harrison said. "Tommie's been helping me out, and now it's just kind of go out there and play."
