Dan LeFevour an all-time great?

Benet graduate Dan LeFevour has turned out to be a decent quarterback. How decent?

The Central Michigan senior and Downers Grove resident has jumped to No. 4 ALL-TIME in total yards for Football Bowl Subdivision players. Here's the list:

1. Timmy Chang, Hawaii: 16,910 yards
2. Colt Brennan, Hawaii: 14,740
3. Ty Detmer, BYU: 14,665
4. LeFevour: 13,920
5. Kevin Kolb, Houston: 13,715
6. Philip Rivers, NC State: 13,582

With either five or six games left in his career, LeFevour seems a cinch to wind up No. 2 on the all-time list (he's averaging almost 300 yards per game for his career).

But here's the kicker. LeFevour is averaging 3.1 total touchdowns per game this year and 2.8 touchdowns per game for his career. If he plays 5 more games and maintains this year's average -- or plays six more games and hits his career average -- he'll become the ALL-TIME leader in total touchdowns.

Colt Brennan and Texas Tech grad Graham Harrell share the FBS record with 146 total touchdowns (passing, running, receiving and returning). LeFevour owns 132.

As a point of comparison, Florida superhero Tim Tebow owns 10,052 total yards and 124 total TDs. Texas' Colt McCoy ranks second among active players with 12,865 total yards and third with 117 total TDs.

One last thought: LeFevour has 2,218 total yards this season. If and when he hits the 3,000-yard mark, he'll become the first player in NCAA history to eclipse the 3,000-yard mark in all four seasons.

Here are the dudes who've done it three times: Ty Detmer, Chad Pennington, Tim Rattay, Kliff Kingsbury, Timmy Chang, Brad Smith, Matt Leinart, Kevin Kolb, Colt Brennan, Paul Smith and Graham Harrell.
