Harris a question mark

Harris a question mark

I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what to expect from Tommie Harris on Sunday.

I don't know whether a week off will cure what ails him because I'm not sure I know what ails him, and I don't know if anybody else knows, including Harris.

He denies having a problem with his left knee, but that’s what the Bears have listed when he misses practice on most Wednesdays or when he’s limited for the rest of the week in practice. Lovie claims the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle isn’t trying to get out of practicing.

“We see (effort) in Tommie,” he said Friday afternoon. “It's not like Tommie is out here dogging it. He's had a problem when he hasn't been on the football field. When Tommie is on the field, he always practices hard. It's pretty hard for a defensive lineman to come to practice under Rod (Marinelli) and not practice hard.”

The problem is that Harris hasn’t been at practice enough to benefit from Marinelli’s coaching expertise.

If an occasional week off, including game day, is what Harris needs to return to his Pro Bowl form, then it’s worth the trade-off. But that’s a big “if.” Harris has a lot to prove on Sunday and for the remainder of the season. So far he’s been a lousy investment of $40 million.

dismemberment of the Super Bowl team

A few years ago Chicago had a super bowl defense with a super bow quarterback. The Chicago sports media called for an extension of Lovie Smith's contract! He promptly got rid of the Super Bowl defensive coordinator and created an environment for his young quarterback to fail. The sports media fully supported Lovie and help destroy the confidence of Grossman and the confidence of the entire Bear team. Now Chicago has a very lousy football team. Just like baseball and basketball. Our sports analysts are pretty stupid and work hard to destroy the spirit on Chicago teams with the most divisive language still printable. They call for the dumbest actions and have excelled in destroying Chicago pro sports. It is time to chuck your Herald, your Trib, your Times, your ABC, your NBC, your CBS, your WGN and let these media figure out that they need to fire deadwood and bring in intelligent writers, maybe hire some 7th grade private school girls to get things going the right way. Chicago has the worst sports media in the US and the proof is in the pudding! Sunday's Bear game was the nail in the coffin.
