Oh-no O-line

Oh-no O-line

Monday's performance wasn't an encouraging sign for what is currently a rag-tag offensive line.

Josh Beekman, last year's fourth-round pick who is starting at center until Olin Kreutz returns, was manhandled by backup defensive tackle Matt Toeaina in one-on-one pass-rush drills. Beekman has also been touted as a possible contender for the starting left guard spot currently held by Terrence Metcalf. Toeaina might not even make the final roster, considering he's behind Tommie Harris, Anthony Adams, Israel Idonije, Dusty Dvoracek and rookie Marcus Harrison on the depth chart.

But Toeaina shouldn't be counted out. You might remember him from late last season. In his NFL debut, he had 2 tackles for loss against the Vikings. Considering how the tackle position was decimated by injuries last season, and in light of Dvoracek's lingering calf injury, Toeaina might be valuable insurance.

Metcalf didn't do much to impress anyone in the pass-rush drill either, unless you consider textbook examples of hands-to-the-face penalty on back-to-back plays a good thing.

O Line

Ugh..not good. But these are the ramifications of staying with Fred "The Turnstile" Miller for too long last year.
