Bears get OK on Rogers
The Bears have been granted permission to interview Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers, and he is scheduled to be at Halas Hall tomorrow for a meeting with coach Lovie Smith.
It's debatable how much Rogers had to do with Brett Favre's success this season, which was statistically the best of his 19-year career. But Tarvaris Jackson, one of the Vikings' pre-Favre starters, showed significant improvement under Rogers. Jackson was a raw, second-round pick out of Alabama State in 2006, Rogers’ first year with the Vikings after four years as Virginia Tech’s quarterbacks coach. Jackson struggled, as expected, when he got playing time late that season, including 2 starts.
But Jackson was better in 2007, and better still in '08, when he had a passer rating of 95.4 with 9 TD passes and just 2 interceptions. After regaining the starting job late in the season when Gus Frerotte was hurt, Jackson had 8 TD passes and just 1 interception for a passer rating of 115.4.

Oh that's right.
The Bears just hired Mike Tice as offensive line coach.
And Lovie loves Rod Marinelli as defensive line coach.
Oh well, a guy can still dream.
Philco is onto something.
Wait until after the Super Bowl. Several of the Indy coaches have hinted at retirement.
Offensive line coach Mudd is rumored to be considering retirement. He played for the Bears in the late 60's and early 70's and could possibly consider coming here.
How good is he? He's the only o line coach Manning has played under. During Manning's career Colt qb's (essentially Manning) have been sacked fewer times than any other team's qb's (Colts website).
Or d line coach John Teerlinck. I know we got one already but he could be moved around.
Teerlinck made Mathis/Freeney the top sack duo in the league. The two starting d tackles are both free agent pick ups. They stuffed the league's best running attack last Sunday (Jets) and a pretty good one the week before (Ravens).
There are other Colt assistants who could be available.
Pure and simple... say no more
To fire Smith, Angelos, and Phillips.
What a start to the New Year that would be. Time to interview all the top assistants and coaches that are out of work ... Oh wait.
and interview the quarterback coach from both teams. And while the Bears are it...why don't they interview every assistant to every quarterback coach in the league...say what's Pep Hamilton doing these days.
The incompetent, laughingstock juggernaut continues to reside inside the hallowed halls of Halas Hall.
I could be the QB coach for Indy and they would still dominate. probably the same for Brees and the saints. We need a proven playcaller that is it. Look in the college ranks if need be get someone that can modify their approach to the talent on the field.
