Still sorting it out ... (updated)
The Republican unity breakfast is going on downtown. Reporters Joe Ryan and Chase Castle are sending along quotes.
Bill Brady's speech:
"I know this election is tight and I wish Senator Dillard would concede right now (laughter) but I know he is not likely to."
Earlier Brady told Dillard his advice would be to not seek a recount.
Jim Ryan told reporters he blamed his loss on his late entry in the race but said, "I got a lot off my chest."
UPDATE: More quotes from the pre-game:
Adam Andrzejewski
“I view my role going forward for this November election is to help us starting winning state rep seats, state senate seats, so I'm here to unity on Republican principals and values of our platform.”
“We don't know the result of what we the people spoke last night, but we'll count those votes. Once they're counted, I will endorse the nominee. I'm comfortable with the people speaking, we just have to find out what they said.”
Bill Brady
“We're confident that our votes will hold up and we'll win this and move on to victory in November … Our guys tell us we're going to be ahead and I believe we will be.”
Your strategy?
“Our strategy was simple. We were running this with five, six Chicago guys. We needed to solidify our downstate base. But we did that 11 months ago by deciding that we had to build the strongest grassroots this state has ever seen. We started downstate, we continued through the collar counties, and when it came to spending our limited resources, we had to focus on where we could draw support from instead of downstate. We knew that [downstate] was our strength.”
“We were outspent by millions of dollars, but the people spoke, and we believe we're going to be victorious and go on to victory on November.”
Dillard says you don't have enough Chicago supporters to win the General Election?
“We have a lot of support in the city. I'm not going to react to anything Sen. Dillard said that wasn't positive.”
“This state is like Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey. Republicans are here to support Illinois families and businesses, and take this state back with positive policies. We're against tax increases, we're against political fiefdoms and we're going to show the people of Illinois that the Republican party is here for them.”
Jim Ryan
“We know that we'll see a much stronger turnout in the general election.”
Rep. Tom Cross
“I think we're going to have a great nominee no matter what happens and it's a great election process.”
“We talked about issues in every one of our commercials. That was what the race was about and I think they are issues to talk about. My guess is the campaigns are going to continue in that way.”

So why didn't Joey Walsh run in the 10th for the open seat?
Answer: Because they know him there.
Melissa Bean will spit Joe Walsh out!!! The overcrowded 8th district race of leaders allowed an unethical, person who has done nothing in his life except run for congress to win. Once again, the republican party did not provide leadership and allowed this to happen. Lucky for Melissa Bean ... her race is much easier now!!
Shame on the republican party. I have to sit this election out!! The devil you know is sometimes better than the devil you don't know!!
