Naperville legends head to Hall of Fame

Joe Bunge and Larry McKeon are two of the biggest reasons the annual football battle between Naperville Central and Naperville North is played at North Central College before more than 10,000 people. So, it's fitting they are heading into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Assocation Hall of Fame together April 10 in Champaign.
Bunge led Naperville Central to a state title in 1999 and two second-place finishes. He finished with a career record of 234-72 and also had stops at Tilden, Niles North and Gordon Tech.
McKeon just concluded his career at Naperville North in the fall with state titles in 1992 and 2007 and a second-place finish. He had a career record of 262-90 and also worked at Joliet Catholic and Plainfield.
They'll be joined by Downers Grove South's John Belskis, who is the only active coach of this year's class. Belskis won a state title in 2001, had a second-place finish and is 180-52 in his tenure with the perennial West Suburban Gold powerhouse. Downers South's Terry Kent will be inducted as an assistant coach whose 32 years also includes a stop at Downers North.
Other inductees with local ties are Tim Cederblad, who was at Benet, West Aurora, Addison Trail, Plainfield Central and Plainfield South and has a 114-58 career record, and William Hearn of Glenbard South as a career coach.
Receiving the IHSFCA's prestigious Ray Eliot Award is Bob Monken, who is currently at Metea Valley and has worked at Lake Park, Naperville Central, Wheaton Warrenville South, Vernon Hills and St. Charles.

University of Illinois head coach Ron Zook is the program speaker and U of I football and hoops play-by-play man Brian Barnhart is the emcee.
