Red-light committee antics
This video was just played in the red-light camera committee. It shows state Sen. Dan Duffy, a Lake Barrington Republican, driving through a red light in making a right hand turn. Duffy has been an outspoken critic of the cameras and had filed legislation to repeal them. Lawmakers appear to be going a different route despite Duffy’s objections.
Duffy's vehicle is the second vehicle in the video.

An Illinois Senate committee is scheduled to take up proposed changes to red-light cameras this morning.
Check back, we'll post from the committee.
Lake Barrington Republican state Sen. Dan Duffy has been an outspoken critic of the devices. But his plans for a full out repeal of them isn’t going to happen. Here’s his take on the so-called compromise that’ll be discussed today.
I do not support this bill since it does not make any significant changes. It is all pure posturing for the cameras. I hoped we could have compromised on some key points pertaining to how the cameras are operated but the lobbyists refuse to budge. The people
who have spoken out against the RLC are being ignored. The camera companies and politically connected Springfield lobbyists flexed their muscle once again. They have completely watered down any ideas we discussed that made actual changes. The RLC companies are not changing or altering one single thing with this bill. The media is not allowed into President Cullerton's meetings but high priced lobbyists are? I wonder why that is? This whole experience has been very enlightening for me. As soon as I walked into Cullerton's office and saw the lobbyists sitting there, I knew the deck was stacked against us. Who elected the lobbyists? If hired guns representing special interests are going to write all the laws, why do we even take the time to elect people to represent us in Illinois? We will keep fighting to get our voices heard.

Dishonest and a menace on the road. Why do we need this loudmouth?
Senator Duffy
Please get off of the red light issue. The cameras are one tool the police use to enforce the law and make the highway system safer for everyone. Use your time and skills to help with the budget problems. Enough with the red light camera issue, get to work on the big stuff.
Sen. Duffy just confirmed can't even comprehend the rules of the road that highschoolers are practically trained to recite ver batim. You're great example of leadership Duffy.
