Senator's second camera shot
Yesterday, Senate Democrats aired footage of Republican Sen. Dan Duffy cruising through a right-hand turn on a red light in Schaumburg. Duffy paid the ticket but has since crusaded for ending red-light cameras.
The Daily Herald sent a Freedom of Information Act request to Schaumburg to confirm the video. Not only was it confirmed, but video from a second violation was sent back.
Here’s the second violation we learned of today. Of note, the violations occurred within days of each other at a notorious Schaumburg intersection that now no longer uses camera enforcement.
Here’s the initial violation, aired in committee yesterday.
Duffy's vehicle is the second vehicle in the video.

Oh Good God, someone get the hook.
he gets on a soapbox to spew negative on the cameras. It is obvious he is a problem driver who we are trying to safeguard ourselves from!!
I am glad that Senator Duffy at least paid his fine. It is the wanton lack of respect for traffic laws that is leading the "populist" pushback on the cameras. You can clearly see from both videos that none of the drivers stopped at the red light at that intersection. They put the red light there for some reason, presumably because they felt people needed to stop to be safe. I believe the cameras when put in place and allowed to stand affect driver behaviors. Red Light running is a dangerous habit that we need to break.
It is appalling that the lobbyists run this state, NOT the elected officials. Why are they even allowed in the meeting yesterday?? Because in means BIG MONEY for certain politicians like Cullerton, Milner, and I would guess Madigan since he is the one ruining oops I mean running this state. Hey Mike lets abolish the governors office too. They all need to be voted out and or have term limits so the damge they do can me minimized. Illinois will be bankrupt before long, and in Springfield it is already morally bankrupt!!
I prefer Senator Cullerton's approach. The bill he worked on finalizing has been reported by the Transportation Committee and is expected to go to the Senate floor. Hopefully, it will become law and the roads will be made safer as drivers pay more attention and cautious.
No surprise why Duffy is so anti-camera. He just can't seem to follow the rules of the road. This is ridiculous. So this guy has essentially made cameras his personal campaign only because he got busted and doesn't want to be held accountable to the same standard as other motorists. Typical politician. Keep the cameras and let's get rid of morons like this.
