Checking in from U.S. Cellular Field, where the White Sox and Indians are scheduled to play Game 2 in just over two hours.
Right now, Sox relievers Matt Thornton and J.J. Putz are playing catch in short left field, but the rain is coming down pretty good.
Hearing a couple things about the weather. First, it's supposed to stop raining at 6:30 p.m. Also heard 8 and 9 p.m.
Assuming there is a game, the Sox' lineup is the same as Monday's season opener:
Juan Pierre – LF
Gordon Beckham – 2B
Carlos Quentin – RF
Paul Konerko – 1B
Mark Kotsay – DH
Alex Rios – CF
A.J. Pierzynski – C
Mark Teahen – 3B
Alexei Ramirez – SS
Jake Peay is scheduled to make his first start of the season.
Couple of notes:
*Ozzie said the left-handed hitting Kotsay and right-handed Andruw Jones are likely to platoon this season, with a slight twist.
Jones will be the designated hitter quite a bit vs. left-handed starters, but Ozzie said he is more likely to play the outfield when he does start.
Jones can play all three outfield spots, and it looks like he'll be mostly used in left, with Pierre either taking a seat or moving to DH.
*Fresh off Monday's spectacular defensive play, Sox starter Mark Buehrle is going to receive the Gold Glove he won last season before Saturday's game vs. the Minnesota Twins.
It's Buehrle's first Gold Glove, and only the second by a White Sox pitcher. Jim Kaat won the coveted defensive award in 1974-75.
