NASHVILLE, Tenn. – So Vancouver, San Jose and Detroit each get it done in must-win Game 4 situations – can the Blackhawks do it, too?
The Hawks said all the right things at practice on Wednesday, about how they needed to be more physical, more desperate and more emotional. Now we’ll see if they put their money where their mouth is.
I like the lineup changes coach Joel Quenneville showed at practice. Adam Burish has to play. The Hawks need what he does best. And Bryan Bickell is a wide-body who has played well every time he’s got the chance.
Bickell figures to have a job next season so let’s see what he can do on a line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
Moving Patrick Sharp back to center makes sense as well. He played there most of the season and with Marian Hossa.
I don’t believe these are panic moves by Quenneville. He has mixed and matched lines all season so this is not a major shakeup. It’s worked before and there’s no reason to believe it won’t work again.
The morning skate should prove to be very interesting to see if Brian Campbell plays.
I left the rink Wednesday believing Campbell was going to play, but as Quenneville likes to say, we’ll see. The Hawks really could use him.
