Stanley Cup Game 2: Second-period stats

The Flyers outshot the Hawks 15-13 in the second period and forced Antti Niemi to deliver a fistful of huge glove saves.

Nonetheless, the Hawks broke through twice in the 18th minute to turn a tense atmosphere into something much more celebratory.

Updating some numbers:
--The Flyers didn't rely on Chris Pronger as much in the second period, perhaps because they had just 36 seconds of power-play time. Pronger has played a total of 17:49, which remains a team-high. Duncan Keith leads everyone with 18:12.

--Troy Brouwer might not have picked up a smart penalty when he headlocked Jeff Carter from behind in the final minute, but he was a monster otherwise. He racked up 3 of his 6 hits in the second period and a third takeaway. He also was stationed in front of the net on Hossa's rebound goal and press-box PA legend Harvey Wittenberg thinks Brouwer might have gotten his stick on the puck before Hossa outpositioned Lukas Krajicek to chip it into the net.

(EDIT: Harvey, of course, turned out to be correct. Just before the third period began, the official scorer changed the assists to Sharp and Brouwer).

--Philly's Mike Richards is 13-4 on faceoffs, which is a dramatic change from Game 1. Dave Bolland, on the other hand, is 4-11. Jonathan Toews is 10-7.
