NY Times source: LeBron, Bosh to Bulls

Any free-agent predictions should be taken with a grain of salt right now, but here’s another one: The New York Times quoted an anonymous NBA executive saying he thinks LeBron James and Chris Bosh will both sign with the Bulls. “I think it’s a done deal,” the mystery executive said. Bulls may be front-runner in James sweepstakes This falls in line with last week’s Yahoo.com story claiming James’ advisor William “World Wide Wes” Wesley is telling people he expects Bosh to join LeBron in Chicago. Like I’ve written before, the Bulls feel good about their chances of signing James and Atlanta shooting guard Joe Johnson, but don’t have a good handle on Bosh’s intentions. Miami is a nice option for Bosh and Toronto has promised to work with him on sign-and-trade scenarios, which could add teams without cap room to the equation, such as the Lakers, Dallas and Houston. A Twitter message from an ESPN reporter suggested New York is a strong candidate for Johnson. I don’t think there’s much doubt his first choice is the Bulls. But if LeBron and Bosh do end up in Chicago, Johnson will need more options. THE ARGUMENT FROM CLEVELAND The LeBron-o-Meter in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer is currently pointed to “Uh-oh,” but some in Ohio are expressing a belief he will stay with the Cavs. Here’s one from the Akron Beacon-Journal: Two keys may keep LeBron in town One of the reasons given is owner Dan Gilbert’s willingness to spend money. I won’t be shocked if James stays loyal to Cleveland -- or at least has a strong desire to stay loyal -- but if the Bulls sign Bosh and Johnson, while Miami adds Amare Stoudemire and assorted other free agents, it won’t be easy for Gilbert’s money to push the Cavs into the NBA Finals. UPDATE: NEW BOSH TWEET Jon Rothstein, a New York radio guy, shares that an anonymous GM told him Bosh to Miami is a formality and it’s been planned for a long time. Maybe this unnamed GM is the same unnamed GM who said Bosh is going to the Bulls. He’s just messing with us.
