Omar: We need to add something

Are the White Sox going to make a move before Saturday's nonwaiver trade deadline? Ozzie is still saying the Sox can win with what they have, but GM Kenny Williams is continuing his pursuit of Washington Nationals slugger Adam Dunn. If the asking price comes down, Dunn could be wearing a White Sox uniform by Sunday. Omar Vizquel weighed in on the hot topic before Tuesday night's game against the Mariners. "I think we need to add something," Vizquel said. "If it's not another pitcher, probably it's another hitter. This is a time where we really need to make a step toward getting better and to separate between the teams that are around, having a chance, and the teams that really need to go on to the playoffs. I guess the final cut is coming, this is the last time to make a change, and I think that with another guy on the team we might secure the next step." Ozzie's reaction to Omar? "Good for him," Ozzie said. "His job is to play, not to make trades. I know how the players feel. I always give my players the freedom to talk and say how they feel. I think Kenny is aware of that. If I had a magic ball and it said, 'If you trade for this guy you're in,' I would trade all 25. But that's not guaranteed. Are we going to make the team better? We don't know." *The White Sox announced that Frank Thomas has been a named a team ambassador. He'll make appearances on behalf of the organization and serve as a team representative in the community and throughout baseball. Thomas has been working as a studio analyst for White Sox home games on Comcast SportsNet. Before the Sox play the New York Yankees on Aug. 29, Thomas' No. 35 will be retired at U.S. Cellular Field. Frank talked to the media Tuesday. "It's a great day," he said. "I've been in this organization for so long. Everything went so fast. I tell people I look at it now, it's like yesterday, and I'm walking through this dugout right here, looking ready for my next at-bat. But when it's over, it's good to be acknowledged by the organization. We've done a lot of talking over the past year. Things are great now." *Here are tonight's lineups: Sox Pierre -- DH Ramirez -- SS Rios -- CF Konerko -- 1B Quentin -- RF Pierzynski -- C Viciedo -- 3B Jones -- LF Beckham -- 2B Floyd -- RHP Mariners Ichiro -- RF Figgins -- 2B Branyan -- DH Lopez -- 3B Smoak -- 1B Saunders -- CF Jo. Wilson -- SS Bard -- C Langerhans -- LF Rowland-Smith -- LHP
