Here's a look back at some of big moments from the second week of the high school football season...

A NATIONAL SHOW
It turned out to be a one-sided show but Wheaton Warrenville South earned rave reviews with its 44-7 romp over two-time defending 8A state champion Maine South. Reilly O'Toole threw for 223 yards and 3 TDs, Matt Rogers rushed for 100 yards and 3 TDs and the defense had 3 turnovers and 5 sacks. WWS took a 44-0 lead with 9:44 left to start a running clock as Maine South suffered its worst loss since the 2006 opener - 61-12 to Indianapolis Warren Central.

STREAK IS OH-VAAHHH AT ROUND LAKE
When you've lost 26 games in a row it doesn't matter much who you end up beating. And Round Lake emphatically ended nearly three straight seasons filled with losses by finally returning to the win column 42-0 over Sullivan from the Chicago Public League. Jacoby Griffin rushed for 3 TDs and RB-LB Jorge Venegas had 78 yards rushing as third-year coach John Coursey got his first victory at the school. "It feels incredible," Venegas said.

LIGHT SHOW
Montini played its first home game under permanent lights Saturday but the excitement was dimmed a bit by a 31-9 loss to Loyola. St. Francis also played under the lights Friday at the College of DuPage but had a happier 42-20 ending over DuSable.

EVERYTHING COMES TO AN END
West Aurora beat Elgin 23-7 in the final meeting of a series that dates to 1895. Elgin may not be too upset since West Aurora won the last seven meetings.

A PERFECT RUNNING GAME
Streamwood junior Alex Morrow rolled out a school-record 300 yards rushing on 41 carries with a TD in a win over Dundee-Crown.

FABULOUS 50s FOR CARMEL
Carmel followed up its 56-point opener with a 55-27 win at Route 176 rival Libertyville on Friday. The Corsairs scored the final 28 points as Michael Panico rushed for 2 TDs. Panico's brother Santino starred for Libertyville in 2003.

NO PASSING ZONE
Downers Grove North saved its passing game for another day as it didn't have a completion in a 42-14 romp over Willowbrook. The Trojans scored four TDs in the first quarter.

AIR SHOW IN McHENRY
The ball was in the air most of the night in St. Charles North's 62-49 wild win at McHenry. SCN's Matt Shiltz threw for 383 yards and 7 TDs - four to Josh Mikes. McHenry's Robert Tonyan threw for 403 yards and 4 TDs.

FINALLY A HAPPY HOMECOMING AT AURORA CENTRAL CATHOLIC
ACC's 19-7 win over Marengo was its first at home since Sept. 2006 over St. Edward. It was also the first win for new ACC head coach Brian Casey.

MAKING A STAND
Bartlett got within a point of state-ranked Crystal Lake South on a 1-yard TD run by A.J. Bilyeu with 1:18 to play. Bartlett went for two but was stopped just short by Kenny King and Brendan Chrystal to preserve a 10-9 victory. "No doubt in my mind we were going for 2 points and the win," said Bartlett coach Tom Meaney, whose team lost 40-0 to CLS last year.
Barrington also made a huge stop and improved to 2-0 with a 30-23 overtime win at Elk Grove on Rob Wagner's interception. Conant also held on for a 13-10 win over Wheeling with a late goal-line stand.

KICKING IN
Neuqua Valley's Ryan Mulhern hit a school-record 42-yard field goal in a 20-18 win over Naperville Central. Wheaton Academy's Sam Cote nailed a 46-yarder against St. Joseph.
Ben LeCompte appeared to preserve Barrington's win over Elk Grove late in regulation with a 61-yard punt to the 1. But Elk Grove drove the field and Matt Brandt nailed a tying 31-yard field goal with 2.2 seconds left.
