Boynton hit with 1-game suspension

Blackhawks defenseman Nick Boynton has received a one-game suspension from the NHL, according to a source, for a throat-slash gesture towards Tampa Bay’s Blair Jones following their fight in Wednesday’s preseason game.

The Hawks will be without Boynton for the first game of the regular season on Oct. 7 in Colorado. Boyntoncan continue to play in the preseason.
