How low key has the convention become as Republicans have dialed down their rhetoric and schedule in deference to events on the Gulf Coast?
Let's just say that when Illinois GOP Chairman Andy McKenna asked former Gov. Jim Edgar to stand for recognition at this morning's state delegate breakfast, it turned out Edgar wasn't in the room. McKenna moved on to former Gov. Jim Thompson...who wasn't there either. House Republican leader Tom Cross? Nope. Which resulted in a lot of media attention for the state party leaders who did attend.
