The annual November circus road trip has been very good to the Blackhawks the last few years. They were 4-1-1 last year, 3-2-1 in 2008-09 and 2-2-2 in 2007-08.
The Hawks need to start this year’s trip strong and take advantage of the Oilers and Flames, because it gets much tougher after that with games at Vancouver, San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles.
If the Hawks aren’t motivated on Wednesday in Edmonton then something is wrong. The Oilers have defeated the Hawks twice at the United Center, but they are struggling and coming off a 8-2 loss at New York against the Rangers on Sunday.
The Flames are 7-9 and nothing special again, but the Hawks have owned them, going 8-0 over the last two seasons. Jarome Iginla has 3 goals in 16 games and is minus-6.
Saturday’s game in Vancouver will be a tough one to win considering the Hawks are in Calgary on Friday.
If you break the trip down into two three-game segments, taking at least two of three this week should be the goal.
Then maybe Sunday’s stopover in Las Vegas for two days will refresh the Hawks for the last three games.
