Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Monday it was likely Patrick Kane would return to the lineup Tuesday at St. Louis after missing eight games with a high left ankle sprain.
Kane made it through Monday's practice skating on a line with Jonathan Toews and Troy Brouwer.
Kane knows he is going to have to deal with some pain for the foreseeable future.
"It'll be one of those things you have to deal with for a while," Kane said. "You just have to learn to deal with it. I'm going to try to do the best I can to make it as healthy as possible and just keep getting in good shape where the pain doesn't last as long as it should."
The Hawks have gone 5-2-1 without Kane.
Jeremy Morin suffered what is believed to be a shoulder injury playing for Team USA in the World Junior Championships on Sunday.
There were immediate reports that the injury could be serious, but USA officials listed Morin as day-to-day on Monday with an upper body injury and said the winger might return before the tournament is over.
Corey Crawford practiced Monday but still isn't feeling 100 percent from his bout with the flu. He'll sit while Marty Turco starts again Tuesday at St. Louis.
Monday lines at practice:
Brouwer – Toews – Kane
Sharp – Kopecky – Hossa
Bickell – Bolland –Pisani
Johnson – Dowell - Skille
